Ken,
All brass has been tumble cleaned and polished for two hours in corn cob. Some brass comes out cleaner than others. Many cartridges fired in revolvers will have powder burn marks on the case walls that will not come out with tumbling. These burnt powder stains are not raised at all, they will not even catch a finger nail but do have the appearance of being dirty. This is unavoidable with a number of wheel gun cartridges.
