Excellent for use in .454 Casull, 460 SW Magnum, and 45 Colt. The high pressures associated with 454 casull and 460 require a rugged bullet that will hold up and deliver devastating terminal ballistics. Hornady's flagship defense and hunting bullets in 45 caliber(.452 diameter) 240 grain jacketed hollow points. Each XTP Bullet has a swaged core and drawn copper jacket to ensure uniform expansion and in-flight stability. Adding a cannelure to this bullet keeps the core and the jacket locked together while also allowing for a tight crimp to prevent bullet setback associated with heavy recoil.

Hornady XTP bullets were designed for hunting, self-defense, and law enforcement. The XTP features controlled expansion where six serrations divide the bullet into six symmetrical sections. These sections weaken the jacket to allow controlled expansion. 

These are the magnum variant of the XTP which is designed for greater pressure and velocity associated with cartridges such as 454 Casull.
